Quiet In The Hospital, Please

(2006)
APH and Nolan Van Heirden

Loose wires hang limply
Dried-up residue long since dropped
To dust-covered linoleum tile
Bare bed frames broken
Sickness soiled mattresses
Long since age-stiffened rotten
And long since saturated with the stench of death

The stark whiteness of the walls now only
Pale yellow lies, a shadow of what they were

Abandoned hallways echo silenced footfalls
While dirt-streaked blood-stained bars
Front splintered board-covered cracked windows
Stilling any chance breeze to disturb tattered torn curtains

Lone nails emerge periodically from the worm-eaten wood
Encrusted in their cancer of dirty rust
Daring anyone to tread carelessly.

Description:
Composed during a long night in a lounge that smelt like cat-piss
