JUMBLED

Jaclyn Woods

This impending misery.
Asphyxiation. You cannot breathe. You do not struggle.
You cannot fight this,
Impediment.
Kindness is second to hell alone.
I cannot account for your jumbled priorities,
When you are shaking, shaken.

Choice is an inconsiderable option,
When you are up against the wall.
Your love, wasted love,
It does not fall.
I want you to want more. To make your own law.
Yesterday. Yesterday. Yesterday.
Will come again. Again. Again.

This is the pain. This is your choice.
Where is your fire? Where is your voice?
Broken cords. Empty words. Cold floors.
Solitarily rejected solidarity.
Opting for loneliness alone.
Rejecting love. Rejecting hope.

On the floor, against the wall.
Blood pumping. Fierce but not strong enough.
Regret.
What do you dwell on
When you sleep alone at night?
