Midnight Attack

Heather Rodwell

I can still feel it.
The distinct fear;
The screaming,
The crawling in my ear.
My thoughts racing; will I die?
Will my brain become diseased
From the infectious remains
Of the alien within?
Is this it? The end?
Hospital, Please!
I have so much more to live for!
And I can feel it
And hear it
And I’m so scared
So, so scared!
Mommy save me!
Mommy, mommy, help me!
Wake up and save me!
It’s hurting, it’s crawling
In my ear.
My own ear!
Earbud? No,
That will push it in further.
Syringe – oh, the damn thing is broken!
There’s only one thing left to do,
Blow it out.
Mommy, hold my hand!
I can feel it crawling out, I think
I can feel it crawling closer to the entrance of my ear
Keep blowing
Something’s itching, do you think it’s out?
I put an earbud to my ear,
And there I find the culprit
Dead on arrival into the outside world.
A fucking little ant!!
